This ultimately leaves Phantom Abyss feeling like a treasure chest that’s only partially filled – it has its share of gems that shine brightly yet leaves enough space to make you wonder about the treasures that could have been.
The more difficult a relic is to obtain, the greater the reward – the final Legendary Relic of a temple allows you to claim the whole temple so that it’s gone forever.
Ultimately, From the Abyss won't enter history for having set any milestone within the console portfolio, because although it has a good Phantom Abyss presentation, its concept can result repetitive for players expecting a good blend between action and story.
The devs should have added a few default phantoms that start with you, even in a temple that no other player has visited before, just to at least give the illusion that the phantom gimmick is working, and maybe makes the player feel a sense of danger as more and more of these phantoms die off.
